A member of the habanero group of chilli peppers, Yaki brown pepper is an extremely spicy open pollinated chilli variety. This variety was originally gifted to us by the Indian Organic school who had been conserving it for a while. Unlike regular peppers, which are green when unripe, unripe yaki brown peppers have a distinct and deep purple/brown color. As they ripen this turns to an intense red color.

History: Yaki brown pepper, also known as the Purple Bhut Jolokhia is a cross between the infamous bhut jolokia and filius blue pepper, an ornamental pepper with purple fruit. The purple/brown fruited variety boasts excellent flavor, and extremely spicy fruit. Ranking at 700,000 Scoville heat units, it is double the heat of orange habanero chillies.
