Dragonfruit was one an unknown fruit in our subcontinent, and now tales of this easy to grow, but very expensive fruit has spread even to the most remote villages of the country. Unfortunately, the white-fleshed variety of dragonfruit, which is both less nutritious and has barely any flavor, has become the predominant variety in the market. Pink flesh dragon fruit has an amazing sweetness and fruitiness, as well as a beautiful color that makes it antioxidant rich. The large, white and fragrant flowers greatly resemble those of the common "brahmakamal" flower, and bloom at night. Fruits are ready to harvest in as little as a month from flowering. Growing dragonfruit from cuttings leads to much faster fruiting (often within the same year)!
