Hopi Purple Corn is an ancient heirloom variety of corn, traditionally grown by the Hopi Tribe of Native Americans. It is famous for its Bright purple kernels, amazing drought tolerance and the high protein content of the grains.

 

History: The Hopi tribe were traditionally based in the desert environments of Arizona, and like many native american societies, they have a rich legacy of understanding and working in conjunction with their environment. Over several centuries they have perfected the art of breeding and conserving their unique heirloom varieties. Hopi varieties of crops are renowned for their excellent resistance to drought conditions, heat, pests and poor soils.
