Gaavran Purple garlic is a powerful and unique desi variety of garlic. It has slowly been phased out of cultivation due to the larger size of of hybrid garlic, however some local communities have kept the variety in cultivation due to the delicious, strong flavor, pest and disease resistance and health benefits! 
 
Garlic is planted by breaking apart the bulbs into bulbils (aka the cloves of garlic), and planting each clove individually. After about 6-9 months, based on soil and weather conditions, the clove will have transformed into a complete bulb. (Do not remove the skin of the clove before planting!) Plants may flower during the growing period, but ideally the flower should be harvest (and can be consumed) to ensure maximum energy goes to bulb formation and not seed formation.
