Waigaon turmeric is an ancient, rare and highly medicinal variety of turmeric from the Wai village in Maharashtra. This variety has high curcumin 5-7% which contribute to its various medicinal uses. It is also hands down the most fragrant and pigmented variety we have come across! The variety has a unique texture, with its crisp succulent flesh that almost resembles cucumber. Because of its unique texture, it is easy to grind into a paste on stone, which made it very useful for the treatment of wounds, and cosmetic applications since ancient times!
 
Waigaon turmeric is easy to grow and yields large sized tubers. The Planting season is between March- July and harvests begin from late January.(depends on climate and water availability
